Step into the conservation of 700 hectares of cloud forest in Ecuador, South America. Work alongside our team, monitor wildlife, and be part of a project protected since 1971.
You've thought about volunteering before. But most programs feel disconnected — either they charge too much for too little impact, or you end up doing busywork that doesn't matter. You want something real. A place where your time and effort make a visible difference.
La Hesperia is a cloud forest reserve and working farm that has been cared for since 1971. It has never depended on external funding. What sustains conservation here comes from the farm, our programs, and the people who choose to be part of it.
By volunteering, you step into that system. Your time and work directly support what keeps the forest protected.
This program is open to people from all backgrounds — students, professionals, or anyone looking for a meaningful experience. You'll work alongside our team, taking part in the daily activities that keep the reserve running.
Because La Hesperia is both a reserve and a working farm, you can focus on conservation, farm work, or a mix of both. We adapt the experience to your interests.
Every day is different. Activities match your interests, physical capacity, and the reserve's current needs — always hands-on, always meaningful.
As a gift in appreciation of your contribution, we include all of these completely free — so your stay is rich and memorable beyond the work itself.
We keep it intentionally small. Every volunteer gets real responsibilities, real guidance, and real connection to the work.
“I came wanting to make a bit of change in the world, but after 8 weeks in La Hesperia, I realized the change always starts from inside. La Hesperia gave me every chance to be a better me — I challenged myself to the point where I thought it wasn't possible.”
“At the beginning I was going to stay only for one month, but in the end I stayed for almost four. My experience there was one of the best of my life. I met amazing people from all over the world and learned a lot about things that are very practical for life.”
“I've learned so much — not just about the cloud forest but about the importance of volunteer work. The hikes were awesome, along with fond memories of camping and swimming in the waterfalls. The atmosphere was the greatest.”
“This place is perfect for all people who want to see the real life of Ecuador. It is an amazing experience to be part of this little community in the jungle. The workers here are nice, helpful, and funny. It is absolutely worth it.”
